Meet Our Staff

Lisa Thomas, Au.D.

Lisa Thomas, Au.D., CCC-A, is a New York State licensed audiologist and registered hearing aid dispenser at Maico Hearing Aid Service, now part of AudioNova, located in Liverpool, NY. She received her Bachelor’s Degree and Clinical Doctorate of Audiology from Syracuse University in 2009. She is currently a member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). Dr. Thomas began her career with Maico in January 2010. Her passion is improving the quality of life for individuals with hearing loss using the latest hearing technologies. In her free time, Dr. Thomas enjoys being with family and going hiking.

Crystal S. Thomas, H.I.S.

Crystal Thomas began her career at Maico Hearing Aid Service, now a part of AudioNova (located in Liverpool, NY), in October of 2011. She became a NYS registered hearing aid dispenser in September of 2013. In 2005, before beginning her career in the hearing health care field, she received her bachelor’s degree from SUNY Brockport in English with a concentration in childhood education. Crystal’s teaching background helped prepare her to educate and counsel people about their hearing loss and hearing health needs. She believes that getting treatment for hearing loss can greatly improve communication with loved ones and overall quality of life. She is a member of the Hearing HealthCare Alliance of New York, Inc. Crystal loves to travel and spend time with her two rescue dogs.

Crystal was excellent to work with and was very attentive to my concerns. She was very thorough in explaining everything and cared that I understood it. Several options were offered, and I was provided information that I could take home to consider before making a decision. Went in for checkup. I've been having difficulty understanding what my husband is saying. I was tested and my hearing aids adjusted. Either my husband is speaking louder or I'm hearing better. JK -- it is definitely the latter. Hearing things I don't remember ever hearing. (like a ticking clock, not loud, it's just there.)

I have been with them for 8 years. Lucy and Shana are so welcoming both in office and on phone. Crystal has fit me with my 3rd set of hearing aids! She is the best. Takes so much time to make sure you understand how to care for Takes time fitting and adjusting sound and features! Easy to get appointment when needed!

My wire pulled out the day before my appointment. Total time for repair was under 10 minutes. I was given my 1/2 year hearing test exam add in a cleaning. Total time was under a half-hour. I wasn't in a hurry besides. Lobby was empty until I was heading to the exam room.

Update February 2025: Lisa, Lucy and all of the staff at Empire have continued to be outstanding providers and caring people. They are consistently invested in the best outcomes for their patients and do it with kindness and consideration. Could not find a better hearing aid support team. They go above and beyond. Still 5 stars after more than 3 years, and would give more if I could. Thank you team Empire! Fantastic customer service and detailed care is what I have experienced with this office. Dr. Lisa Thomas is knowledgeable and generous with her time and support. The Office Manager Lucy is friendly and conscientious, in her assistance with insurance and your overall well being. They offer a wide selection of options in hearing aides, which is not the case with all offices. I highly recommend Empire and the Phonak hearing aides they fitted me with (Audeo P90-RT).
