When should I use hearing protection?
You should always use hearing protection when engaging in high-noise recreational activities or work. These activities may include hunting, music concerts, motor sports, and/or construction. Noise-induced hearing loss can result from prolonged exposure to noise or a single, extremely loud event. The louder the sound, the quicker it can cause damage. If you notice ringing in your ears or temporary hearing loss after a loud noise exposure, the environment was too noisy and could be harmful. If that ringing or temporary hearing loss is persistent, it would be a good idea to contact us for a hearing evaluation.
Should I get my hearing tested?
If you suspect that you or a loved one may be experiencing hearing loss, it’s recommended that you seek help sooner rather than later. Hearing loss tends to develop gradually and is often noticeable to close friends and family well before the affected individual realizes it. Identifying and treating hearing loss promptly is crucial. I made a mess of my hearing aids while trying to clean them. I Walked into True North Hearing, told them my story, and 15 minutes later I was walking out with working hearing aids. I felt completely confident in their ability to correctly diagnose the problem and perform the necessary fix. Quick, friendly, and inexpensive and very professional.

For the first 21 years of my life, I was told I could never use any type of hearing aid or device to assist with my single-sided deafness. I actually found this location unintentionally to get a hearing test after I had a long lasting ear infection. As soon as I connected with April & Josh, I felt immediately at ease. April worked with me to do anything she could to help me & ended up setting me up with a hearing aid & transmitter to help me hear! They made me feel comfortable, April listened to me and my needs, been places where they put you in a sound proof boxs and that was it. She tried to mimic back ground sounds while sitting in her office while we would carry on a conversation, fitted me there on the spot, She did not try to push you into something you did not need. I just moved to the area in December 2020 and was having issues with my Insignia Hearing Aids that I purchased in NY. Seacoast Hearing got me in right away, looked up my warranty and got my Hearing Aids replaced and reprogrammed in less than a week. He is knowledgeable of the products and technology, and is personally familiar with the real-world challenges those with hearing loss face in different environments. So he was able to identify the best option and tailor it to my type of hearing loss and what I was looking for. Throughout the trial period, Randy was helpful in resolving minor issues and teaching me how to best navigate the functionality of my new hearing aids. I strongly recommend Randy in the Portsmouth office if you're looking for better results from your hearing aids. He and his team are friendly and provided good communication from beginning to end.
