When should I use hearing protection?
You should always use hearing protection when engaging in high-noise recreational activities or work. These activities may include hunting, music concerts, motor sports, and/or construction. Noise-induced hearing loss can result from prolonged exposure to noise or a single, extremely loud event. The louder the sound, the quicker it can cause damage. If you notice ringing in your ears or temporary hearing loss after a loud noise exposure, the environment was too noisy and could be harmful. If that ringing or temporary hearing loss is persistent, it would be a good idea to contact us for a hearing evaluation.
Should I get my hearing tested?
If you suspect that you or a loved one may be experiencing hearing loss, it’s recommended that you seek help sooner rather than later. Hearing loss tends to develop gradually and is often noticeable to close friends and family well before the affected individual realizes it. Identifying and treating hearing loss promptly is crucial. I was in town at the Saginaw location and happened to take a chance that someone would be in the office today since I didn’t have an appointment and I was delighted that Kelly Bland was there. She was very friendly and accommodating. Asking how she could help me I ask if Garrett was available and he was not but Kelly said she could help me and provided me some cones and filters besides fixing my broken retention strand. I have always gotten great service from Hear Michigan and love my hearing aids. Thank you Kelly!

My first visit was great. I was told what insurance that they accepted and I changed insurance to what I was told was acceptable. When I called for my follow up visit, I was told that they didn’t except my health insurance after I changed. What a disappointment. I could have kept my original insurance. 🤬

I want to publicly share my gratitude for Hear Michigan - the Saginaw office and Kelly and Dr. John in particular. My Dad has struggled with hearing loss since a tire blew up near him when he was a child. Since I was little I would sit near my Dad at restaurants and try to tell him the conversation pieces he would miss. The last five years, it has been harder and harder to talk to my Dad on the phone - he would have to give my Mom the phone so I could tell her or he would apologize for asking me to repeat myself - it was so sad because my Dad is so funny and brings so much joy and wisdom and we couldn't have free flowing conversations. A few months ago Dr. John and Kelly helped my Dad set up his hearing aid so it works like a bluetooth - so my voice was right in his hearing aid! The first time we talked with his hearing aid set up like this, he didn't ask me to repeat even once! It seriously was incredible and my Dad seemed equally excited! I got off the phone and called my sister and burst into tears of joy to share that I talked to Dad for 30 minutes and we had a normal conversation the entire time! You all gave me and my family a gift that I can't thank you enough for! I feel like my relationship with my Dad is back to how it used to be and we are back to me sharing stories of life and him sharing stories of wisdom : )
