When should I use hearing protection?
You should always use hearing protection when engaging in high-noise recreational activities or work. These activities may include hunting, music concerts, motor sports, and/or construction. Noise-induced hearing loss can result from prolonged exposure to noise or a single, extremely loud event. The louder the sound, the quicker it can cause damage. If you notice ringing in your ears or temporary hearing loss after a loud noise exposure, the environment was too noisy and could be harmful. If that ringing or temporary hearing loss is persistent, it would be a good idea to contact us for a hearing evaluation.
Should I get my hearing tested?
If you suspect that you or a loved one may be experiencing hearing loss, it’s recommended that you seek help sooner rather than later. Finally had a follow up on my hearing aids. I purchased these almost two years ago and I had no follow up care from previous caregivers that I bought them from. Friendly at first. Then any minor issue. I did something wrong not them, worked fine, then they made me send out for cleaning, came back damage, of corse my fault not their issue, and wouldnt check, send aids out worked fine came back damaged and blamed me not covered my fault morin augusta maine. Had for 11 months and gone 150 % not working and $5,000 still due

In March 2024 I had a routine follow up appointment with True North Hearing. I have an annual visit once a year. My reception this year was no different from my prior years: The receptionist (Patty) was welcoming and accurately told me when my Audiologist would be available. Within 2 minutes of my appointment time Lindsay (Audiologist) came out to greet me and addressed me by name. The appointment was friendly, informative, and totally satisfying from my point of view. I would not hesitate to recommend them. I arrived 5-10 minutes early, was seen at my appointed time and got the status of my hearing. Interestingly enough, when I was coming in, a prior patient was just leaving. When I was leaving, another was coming in.... I wish all doctors could do that.

Receptionist was lovely but the person testing my hearing couldn’t have been less friendly. She snapped the headphones on my ears, performed the test for about 2 minutes, told me my hearing was fine and pretty much dismissed me. Highly WOULD NOT recommend. I’ll be going for another test somewhere else to be sure it was even accurate.

I am happy I chose True North Hearing in Augusta to help me with my hearing problems. Dr. Lindsay is very knowledgeable, patient, and professional. From my first (unannounced) visit, to inquire about how possibly I could benefit from new technology, I was treated very respectfully. Their receptionist was knowledgeable and polite. She (Patty) arranged for a complimentary demonstration. Several days later I went to the demo. Been a patient for about 10 years. Both the Doctors and staff have been excellent. When I have any problems, they get me in and have solved the problem. If you have hearing problems, I would highly recommend the Augusta office.

I had a hearing evaluation with Lindsay last week. I have had a lot of trouble with the hearing aids that I purchased nearly 3 years ago. I have made numerous trips back to the office to get repairs done and neither of them seemed to be working properly. Having made a substantial investment in these hearing aids, I have not felt like my return on that investment has been adequate. Lindsay listened to my rant and, after checking my hearing, she made a few changes to the hearing aids and stressed that she was ready and willing to do whatever I thought needed to be done to try to get them working to my satisfaction. Instead of sending them back to the manufacturer, I opted to try them for a while with the modifications that she had made. They seemed to be working well when I left the office, and have continued to do so in the week since my visit. She scheduled a follow-up appointment before the warranty expiration with the caveat that, should anything change between now and then, I would bring them back in and they would be returned to the manufacturer. I was very pleased with the way things went at that appointment and am hoping that this trend will continue.
