Meet Our Staff

Eric Smargiasso, NBC-H.I.S.

Eric Smargiasso has been working in the hearing healthcare field for 17 years and has greatly enjoyed the opportunity to improve the hearing of thousands of patients. Over the years, he’s worked with all major device manufacturers. Outside of the clinic, Eric appreciates the outdoors and loves spending time at his recreational farm in southern Iowa, enjoying all that the outdoors has to offer. He is passionate about preserving our wildlife. Eric is a member of the Rocky Mountain Elk Federation, Whitetails Unlimited, National Wild Turkey Federation, and Pheasant/Quail Forever. Every year Eric can be found at his booth at the Iowa Deer Classic. Eric still enjoys his work today as much as he did 17 years ago.

About a month ago, I purchased hearing aids from Concept by Iowa hearing in Pleasant Hill. Eric has 23 years experience and is very knowledgeable in this field. Both he and his assistant Jennifer are very friendly helpful and down to earth. If you were considering or wondering if you may need hearing aids, I highly recommend going to concept by Iowa hearing. Remember that this is not a one time thing. You will be visiting with Eric and Jennifer at a minimum of every 6 months as long as you live for fine tuning. Their personalities were also a big part of my decision. I almost bought aides online because they were less money but came to realize this is a very exacting science and definitely requires a hands on approach. I feel I am and will continue to get excellent value for my dollar. Happy customer!

I was asked to give a rating for concept by Iowa hearing aids. zero star ranting! It will not post unless you give them at least a 1 star rating. I would not even give them that. Here is part of there We Believe statement from there website: Positive change is worth the pursuit We relentlessly seek to improve our industry and our world through innovative technology and new ways of thinking; and we will work with our patients as long as it takes to produce the best outcomes. The patient is more important than the purchase We sell hearing aids, but more importantly, we treat hearing loss. To ensure that every provider is empowered to deliver the best in hearing health, we demand high standards-of-care, modern equipment, and advanced processes in each and every clinic. I was extremely disappointed with my latest service that I received from Eric Smargiasso they gave me a 30 day trail on new hearing aids if they don’t meet your satisfaction you may return them for a full refund. 20 days into wearing their new hearing aids I decided that the price difference from trading in my old hearing aid to their new hearing aids was not that much improved for what they costed to upgrade, so I decided to keep my old pair and returned their new hearing aids for my full refund. In there we believe statement it states: (The patient is more important than the purchase) the day I returned the hearing aids that statement went out the window. Eric Smargiasso was very upset that I was returning the new hearing aids. The service from that point on was very upsetting in the way I was treated by Eric Smargiasso. I will not be returning to the Pleasant Hill office.

I love going here. The staff are very knowledgeable and courteous. Service appointments are free and very thorough. Eric and Jennifer have been a great help getting me connected to a hearing aid app that allows me to hear on iPhone and listen to music.
