🔊 ITE — In-the-Ear
A custom-moulded device that sits in the outer ear or ear canal, with no part behind the ear. Discreet and easy to handle.
Cleaning
Daily cleaning keeps your ITE hearing aids working clearly and comfortably. Clean them each evening after you take them out.
- Wipe the body. Use a soft, dry cloth or the supplied cleaning tissue to wipe the casing. Never use water, alcohol, or solvents.
- Clear the microphone ports. Gently brush across the mic openings with the soft cleaning brush. Hold the aid so debris falls away from the opening.
- Clean the faceplate & vents. Brush the vent opening and use the wax pick to clear the sound outlet on the part that sits in your ear.
- Check the wax filter. Look at the wax guard — if it's full or discoloured, replace it (see "Domes & Filters").
- Store safely. Leave the aids open to air overnight, or place them in your charger/drying kit.
Tip: A weekly deeper clean with a drying capsule or electronic dryer helps remove moisture and extends the life of your devices.
Charging
Most current AudioNova ITE models are rechargeable. A full charge typically gives a full day of hearing.
- Place in the charger. Seat each hearing aid in its slot — they're magnetic and will settle into place. Indicator lights confirm contact.
- Watch the lights. A pulsing light means charging; a steady light means fully charged. A full charge usually takes about 3 hours.
- Use the case on the go. A charged portable case tops the aids up without a wall outlet — handy when travelling.
- Power down when stored. Leaving the aids in the charger powers them off automatically, saving battery for the next day.
Note: If an aid won't charge, make sure the charging contacts are clean and dry, and that the charger is connected to power. See "Troubleshooting".
Domes & Filters
In-the-ear devices don't use domes, but they do have wax guards that protect the sound outlet. Replace the guard when sound becomes weak or muffled.
- Get your wax guard tool. Each pack contains a double-ended tool — one end removes the old guard, the other holds the new one.
- Remove the old guard. Push the empty end straight into the used wax guard and pull it out.
- Insert the new guard. Turn the tool around and push the fresh guard into the opening until it seats, then pull the tool away.
- Test. Pop the device back in and check that sound is clear again.
How often: Replace the wax guard roughly every 4–6 weeks, or sooner if sound drops.
